In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Gennett Walk of Fame, and Indiana’s Bicentennial, the 2016 festival will attempt to set the world record of continuous piano playing at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Fonda Wilds, event organizer, has set the goal at 72 continuous hours, or one full week.
The 2016 festival will include a parade. There will also be an artist competition where replicas of Starr Upright Pianos will be placed around Wayne County. The statues will be life size and include a bench for people to sit on. Jimmy Durante, who recorded at Gennett in the 1920’s, will be inducted into the Walk of Fame.
A ceremony will be held for that during the week’s festivities.
On Saturday the 10th, book signings of Images of America:The Starr Piano Company and Gennett Recording Company will occur at the Wayne Co. Historical Museum, Old National Road Welcome Center, and Two Sister’s Books.
